26 Prayers for 26 Million Teens: Commitment

com·mit·ment/kəˈmitmənt/

Noun:
  1. The act of committing or the state of being committed.
  2. Dedication; application.

In a “me-first” world, it’s hard for today’s teens to know what commitment really looks like. We have a tendency in our culture to bail when things don’t work out in the short-term.

Today, my prayer for America’s teenagers is that they would be committed to the Lord in all that they do, so God will pour out His favor on them.

It can be tough to maintain commitment when it seems that the vision God has given you isn’t moving forward fast enough, or if people just aren’t responding. But Zechariah 4:10 says: “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”

I believe this generation is being called to a very important work that will bless this world. Join me in prayer for these future world-changers, that they would be committed — even in the small things — knowing that God is going to do great things through them:

26 Prayers for 26 million American Teens – Will You Pray?

Are you a parent or grandparent of a teenager? Are you a senior pastor who is wondering who will be the next future church leader? Are you a youth pastor who works two jobs and pours out your life for a group of teenagers, who has a burden to rescue them from the pitfalls of this culture? Are you someone who has sponsored a teen to go out on the mission field?

If so, I am calling on you! I am asking everyone who knows and loves a teenager to stand in the gap with me and declare God’s promises over the lives of America’s teenagers.

When I started training for the Dallas Marathon, I knew this race was about more than accomplishing some great physical challenge. It was a divine opportunity to raise awareness to the problems the younger generation faces, and to cover each of these teens in prayer.

26 miles, 26 million teens, 26 prayers to bless this generation.

Now through Dec. 9, I will be praying through 26 different prayers — one each day, for 26 days. Then on Dec. 9 — Race Day — I will pray a prayer for each mile I run 26.2 miles.

I invite you to join me in prayer over the next 26 days. Then, on the day of the race, join me on Twitter @RonLuce as my team at Teen Mania live-tweets a prayer – one for each mile – during the marathon. You can tweet prayers and encouragement for America’s teens right along with my staff. You can also follow my route during the race, live, by clicking on this link.

Stand with me today. Find the full list of prayers at www.teenmania.com/prayer.

And consider sponsoring my run – every dollar donated will go toward reaching teens for Christ and empowering them to live out their calling!
